Environmental

Conservation

We strive to conduct our business operations to combat impacts of climate change according to pragmatic principles and sustainable practices comprising 6 main aspects.

We make an impact on the environment starting by reducing ours.

At Modernria, we are routinely implementing new ways to reduce our environmental impact – from the processes we employ to manufacture products to the way we deliver them to customers. At the same time, we are also encouraging the use of greener packaging, which we strongly believe must be a mainstay.

Energy conservation through installation of solar panels in our facilities.

One of the major energy conservation measures we have planned out is the installation of solar panels in our facilities. The manufacturing industry is one of the biggest consumers of electricity in the global energy market. With the growing awareness regarding the environmental degradation we are keen to shift towards renewable sources of energy. The goal is to reduce carbon footprint at each and every step of the manufacturing process.

Riapack, accessible and affordable greener packaging for businesses.

We all know that plastic is not going anywhere. Therefore, the challenge we have put to ourselves is to make plastic ecologically friendly and recyclable. We are proud to introduce Riapack, our greener packaging. There is no complicated component separation with Riapack which makes it easily 100% recyclable. We continue to invest and explore ways on improving the technology behind Riapack. Riapack is accessible and cost-effective for businesses to opt for, and we want it to remain this way. If we are able to make the packaging of our consumables recyclable, we can make a substantial positive change for the environment.

Environmental
Policy

We are fully committed to the greener environmental protection and prevention of pollution in related operational activities through continual improvement of PDCA cycle in effective Environmental Management System through:

  • Compliance with relevant Malaysian Environmental Legal and other requirements.
  • Preserving, conserving energy utilization, minimizing waste of resources and ensuring our work environment is free from pollution.
  • Ensuring suitability and effective implementation of the Environmental management programs through periodic Management Review of the policy, objectives and targets.
  • Communication to all employees and ensuring adequacy in Environmental awareness, skill, knowledge, competency and compliances obligations.
  • Communicating and promoting awareness to our customers, suppliers and interested parties, and make the policy available to the public upon request.

6 steps towards

environmental conservation

1. ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITS AND REPORTING
All required environmental permits (e.g. discharge monitoring), approvals and registrations are obtained, maintained and kept current and their operational and reporting requirements are strictly being adhered to.

2. POLLUTION PREVENTION AND RESOURCE REDUCTION
The use of resources and generation of waste of all types, including water and energy, are kept to minimum or eliminated at the source or by practices such as thorough monitoring and engineering control in production, maintenance and facility processes; materials substitution; conservation, recycling and re-using materials.

3. HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES
All hazardous chemicals and other materials harmful to the environment are identified and appropriately managed to ensure their safe handling, movement, storage, use, recycling or reuse and disposal.

4. WASTEWATER AND SOLID WASTE
Wastewater and solid waste generated from operations, industrial processes and sanitation facilities are characterized, monitored, controlled and treated as required by local law prior to discharge or disposal.

5. AIR EMISSIONS
Air emissions of volatile organic chemicals, aerosols, corrosives, particulates, ozone depleting chemicals and combustion by-products generated from operations are characterized, monitored, controlled and treated as required prior to discharge.

6. ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS
Energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions are tracked and documented while continuing to look for cost-effective methods to improve energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
